We have a lot of family traditions when it comes to food. Every Sunday we my mom has a huge family dinner and any of the family that can make it comes. My mom loves to cook and is very creative with her feast. I am one not to miss our Sunday dinners, it's one night a week that I don't have to cook. Another tradition is that she cooks a huge feast on our birthdays and we get to decide what we want for the meal. I often choose a Hispanic dish, its the type of food I was raised on and I love it.
Holidays are always an important time for our family. We have a lot of out of state family and we try to get together for thanksgiving every year. Preparing thanksgiving dinner starts the day before and is usually served by two thanksgiving day. All the women in the family put a lot of time into the meal, and it's not your usual turkey and ham. We have a smorgasbord of food from all different cultures, we like to make our favorite dishes and try new recipes. This is also a time when we exchange new recipes with each other and we are not afraid to give our opinion about how something tastes. These traditional feast are what bring all the family together for at least once a year, without our traditions we would all probably drift apart.

community
"Therapy is a community." We are a community because we all share a common goal, which is getting people back on there feet. Working together is what holds the group together. Whether we are a physical therapist, an occupational therapist, a speech therapist, or a restorative aide we are all working to get out patients to there goals. We may have different techniques that we all use, and sometimes that may cause tension, but we can share our ideas and learn from each other in the process.
I fit into this group because I am a restorative aide. We consider ourselves a family and a community, I love being apart of it because we work together to help others and we enjoy what we do.

my purse
The contents of my purse, as my husband would say, " it has everything but the kitchen sink in it." He's exaggerating a bit, I only carry a few things that I know I'm going to need. Things like band aides, Tylenol, hand sanitizer and lotion. Then of course there is the cellphone, keys, and wallet, which contains what I need to make purchases and it also includes medical cards.
If someone was to find my purse they might think that I have kids because of the band aides and hand sanitizer or that I'm a germ freak. They would also find that I'm organized and that I don't carry a bunch of junk that I don't need. If all they found was my wallet they wouldn't know much about me, they would know that I would be ready to go shopping or to the doctor at anytime.
I know that I'm the type of person that doesn't like a cluttered purse. I only keep it organized so I can easily find what I am looking for. I like to carry band aides and hand sanitizer for my kids, because they are always scraping something. As for everything else I carry, I just think they are the necessities that I have to have with me all the time.
